This committee promotes openness to personal vocations, especially to the priesthood and the religious life. They work to educate parishioners and invite them to prayerfully discern their vocation.
Catholics need to know about the ordained priests and religious men and women who serve them for at least three reasons:
- To appreciate what religious do for them
- To be reminded to show active support
- That they might consider the ordained priesthood or religious life for themselves, family or friends.
Each week parishioners are invited to take home the Elijah Cup as a means to encourage prayer for vocations. The Elijah cup is a chalice used during to Mass and holds the precious Blood of Christ. Families are given the Elijah cup at the end of Mass to take home with them and pray for vocations.
To sign up for the Elijah Cup, please visit the gift shop in the narthex.
Did you know the proceeds from the gift shop go to the vocations committee? This group helps promote vocations in our parish and in diocese. They also support seminarians that are assigned to St Gabriel.
