The word “compassion” is rooted in Latin, meaning “to suffer with.” We exercise compassion when we offer care to others in their suffering and struggles, but not from a distance. We can only “suffer with” someone if we are willing to draw ourselves close to them, just as God did through his Son, Jesus. Our Pastoral Care Ministry is a coordinated effort to bring compassion to people’s suffering and struggles.
