It was the first week of Advent and my Mother, lovingly called Gei Gei by her grandchildren, shared that she would really like to participate in an Advent reflection, but was struggling to read as her eyesight is weakening. My daughter Sarah said, “Mom, it's no problem. I got this! We will read the reflections and create our own audio files and I will text one to Gei Gei each day! Then this way she can hear our voices and it will be like we are all praying together."
She celebrated Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion surrounded by her family last week. With a flood of sacramental grace, she became our newest sister in the faith. And we are happy to welcome her!
In March of 2020, all Catholics of the Diocese of Dallas were dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and other Holy Days of Obligation (canon 1247) as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. After consultation with the priests of the Diocese of Dallas, and in light of the greatly improved conditions of the Diocese and the nation, I intend for this dispensation to be lifted and for the obligation to return on Sunday, November 28, 2021, the First Sunday of Advent.
