A reading from the book of John 3:14-21: Jesus, with a group of people, and said, "Now the time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. A grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die in order for it to produce much fruit. Whoever serves me must follow me and the father will honor whoever serves me. It was for this reason that I have come."
Jesus was saying that he was like the grain of wheat - he had to die for the bigger purpose of saving all of us. Jesus did not want to die as he loved his life, but he did it for us, to save us from our sins. He knew what type of death he was going to die and that he would rise again. He loved us so much, he knew it was worth it.
Questions to ask your child about this week's lesson:
1) Did Jesus know that he was going to die and rise again? (yes)
2) Who did Jesus die for? (us, to take away our sin)
3) How did you show Jesus that you loved him this week?
