A reading from the book of Mark 1:40-45: A man who had sores on his skin asked Jesus to heal him. Jesus felt sorry for the man and told him, "I will heal you. However, tell no one and go to the temple and make the sacrifice to God as instructed by Moses."
However, the man told everyone he knew about how Jesus healed him! In fact, he told so many people that Jesus was unable to to into the town without being swarmed by people, so he stayed on the outskirts. However, people continued to find and come to Jesus.
Today we hear about another miracle that Jesus performed. He cured a man with painful sores all over his body. Imagine the man's excitement at being cured! Imagine how hard it would be to keep that secret! The man was so thankful and happy that he couldn't contain himself and told everyone he met even though Jesus told him not to.
Questions to ask your child about this week's lesson:
1) What did Jesus do for the man who had sores all over his body? (he healed him)
2) What did Jesus tell the man to do after healing him? (to go give an offering to God at the temple and to tell no one what Jesus did)
3)Did the man told others about what Jesus did? Do you think you would tell other?
