A reading from the Gospel according to John 6:41-51: Jesus said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven..." The Jews said to eachother, "Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother?
Then how can he say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?" Jesus said back, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me brings him and I will raise him on the last day. It is written by the prophets. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world."
This week we continue to learn about how Jesus is the Bread of Life. We see that those who knew him his entire life were unsure and questioned how he could be the one written about by the prophets. Think of your favorite thing you like to have for dinner. There is a recipe to make it, right? When you family cooks it and follows the recipe, it takes so good, right? Just like we make food with a recipe, and when we follow it, the food turns out really good, Jesus tells us the recipe for eternal life - following him! Only Jesus's recipe will turn out even better!
1) Did everyone believe Jesus that he was God's son, the bread of life? (No)
2) What is your favorite recipe? Is it hard to follow? Do you think Jesus's recipe is hard to follow?
3) Tell your family your recipe to follow Jesus this week.
