A reading from the Gospel according to Mark 6:7-13: Jesus sent his 12 disciples out in groups of 2 to go out and preach about him, healing unclean spirits. He told them to take nothing for this trip - no sack of supplies, no food, not even money! They were to wear sandals to protect their feet but not bring a change of clothes. Jesus told them to stay with the people who welcomed them into their houses as those people would provide the food, clothing, and shelter. So the disciples went out and preached repentance. They cured and helped many people.
In this Gospel, Jesus is now sending his disciples out to be the teachers - to evangelize! He wants everyone to know about God and Him and believe and repent! Repent means to ask for forgiveness for bad things that they have done. Jesus also tells his disciples to trust in others to care for them. That took a lot of trust, don't you think? However, Jesus knew that God would provide people to care for these friends/followers that he loved so much! Jesus calls us to be disciples every day too! He wants us to tell others about Him!
