Advent is a time of waiting and anticipation of the birth of our Savior. We prepare our hearts during these four weeks, and in that preparation we are asking our parish family to make that reality each week by preparing for Mass. Read the gospel before coming to Mass, watch the short reflections by Fr. Eugene and Fr. Juan, listen attentively to the homily, and reflect on what you heard with others. We have the readings for each week, a video reflection, and questions below to help you prepare for Mass and in turn for Christmas.
Along with preparing for Mass, we have several other ways for you to enter into this holy season through service, prayer, and community. Prepare the way!

- How does the season of Advent prepare us for both the celebration of Christmas and the anticipation of Christ’s Second Coming?
- In what ways can we incorporate daily practices of prayer and reflection into our routines during Advent to deepen our understanding of this liturgical season and recharge our spiritual batteries?
- In today’s gospel, what do you think Jesus means when He says, “be vigilant”? What are ways we can be vigilant as we begin this season of Advent?

- Who are people in our lives that have heard of Jesus, but don’t really know Jesus? How is the Lord inviting you to reach out to them this Advent?
- What is one moment you have seen God at work in your life this week? Who can you share this testimony or “God moment” with?
- Can you think of a time when you encountered Jesus during a period of trial or tribulation? How did that experience shape your faith or your understanding of His presence in your life? How can you use that experience to share Christ with others?

- How does the theme of rejoicing, as emphasized in the readings for the Third Sunday of Advent, particularly in the context of "Gaudete" Sunday, help us understand Advent as a season of both preparation and celebration for the coming of Christ?
- How have you been preparing yourself for Christmas this Advent? How might the Lord be inviting you to take one more step to actively prepare for Christmas? Some examples Fr. Eugene mentioned include coming to mass on time, going to confession, reading the Sunday readings beforehand, and inviting friends and family to come to mass with you.
- In what ways do the readings highlight the call to conversion and the recognition of God's presence among His people? How have you recognized this call to conversion in your own lives this Advent?
