January 1996- A new parish is established in McKinney with Fr. Greg Kelly as pastor
July 28, 1996 - Regular weekend Masses begin in various MISD schools
December 1996 - We are officially named St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Community
June 24, 2001 - The first Mass is celebrated at our current location, 110 St Gabriel Way
January 20, 2008 - Fr. Don Zeiler is welcomed as the new pastor
February 23, 2019 - Our beautiful permanent worship space is dedicated
From the beginning, St Gabriel has been known as a welcoming community and we continue to eagerly welcome all into our parish family. Welcome home.
Our hope is that you join us on the journey of following Jesus and living as one of his disciples. But how does one come to know Jesus and follow him? We’ve outlined a pathway that is meant to bring clarity and supportive direction to those on the journey of following Jesus here at St. Gabriel. This pathway is a model that visually communicates a process for becoming a disciple and growing as an active follower of Jesus. The Discipleship Pathway consists of three key stages. Within each stage, are actionable steps for entering in and continuing deeper into the life-long journey.
What does a disciple look like or how does one act? A scriptural reflection on the calling of the first disciples (Matt 4:19), the Great Commission (Matt 28: 19-20), and the Greatest Commandment (Matt 22:37-40), reveals that Jesus ask his disciples to live out a certain behavioral actions. We call these the seven actions of a missionary disciple. As a church community, we aim to provide ministry opportunities, programs, initiatives, and events to nurture the ongoing development of these actions in our own lives and in the lives of those around us.
